Thanksgiving in Bozeman, Montana

Since we are going to Portland for Christmas we decided to have a mini Christmas at Michelle's parents house while we were there for Thanksgiving. Michelle gave me a couple of Estes rockets and her mom gave me a remote control helicopter. I've been having a lot of fun putting together the rockets and playing with the helicopter.

Here is a picture of us right before we stuffed our faces.

Here is a picture of us setting up the first launch.

Here is a video of our second successful launch of one of my rockets.

Doing my Civic Duty

Yesterday I was up from 4:30 in the morning until 10 at night helping out with the Utah Colleges Exit Poll. In fact, this entire semester, we've been working on the statistical implementation of the exit poll, including the counties to sample, as well as the data entry, etc. I was really looking forward to doing some of the data entry, but I was assigned to one of the crisis teams, code for hot chocolate and donut delivery service. After making 73 cups of hot chocolate, I decided that I am going to change my career to something in food services...After all, I didn't really get to impart my statistical knowledge to the rest of the world- instead I was dividing donuts and combining hot chocolate and water. I felt a little useless...and by the end of the day, I was exhausted, freezing, and a little apathetic about any of the election results.

So when you heard the results of the election last night for Utah, just know that I was out there feeding the workers, one donut at a time! And I voted. Altogether, I think I have done enough civic service for the next 4 years or so.

Pumpkins!

Yesterday we took a break from homework to carve pumpkins.

I got all of the weapons, or rather, the tools out for carving and started cutting open the pumpkins while Michelle finished one of her assignments.

I decided to go with the Linux mascot for mine and Michelle decided to go with the statistics theme. If you see hers and don't get it, don't worry, I don't either. Here is a picture of the design I used, that way you can maybe see some resemblance when you see what it turned out like.

Here's what Michelle's finished product looked like:

Yes that was us on TV

If you were watching General Conference this weekend on the BYU channel you might have seen us in the creamery commercial that made us famous. Our neighbors apparently saw the commercial during a BYU devotional as well. Last week they asked me if it really was us that they saw in the commercial. Today at work one of the newer secretaries (who had only met me once before until today) saw me in the Dean's office and asked me if I was in the commercial. I think it is really funny when people ask if we were in a commercial.

If you want to see the commercial we posted it on this site a little while back. Here is a link to it:

What a week

This week was nuts! I had three big tests this week. Two in engineering classes and the other in Computer Science. It feels so good to be done and to not have to worry about them anymore.

Last week I went to a career fair and talked to a few recruiters from some different companies. One of the companies I gave a resume to was Lockheed Martin. That was one of the ones I didn't expect to hear from at all, but the next thing I know I get an email and a phone call and I'm getting ready to fly down to Colorado Springs for an interview in two weeks. Their treat. That was quite a surprise. I hope Intel gets back to me soon.
